Participant Workbooks
The Live & Grieve™ Participant Workbook Series is the cornerstone of our program. It is built around the simple but profound truth: you can live and grieve at the same time.
The series is composed of four volumes, each containing 13 weeks of guided support. Together, the four volumes provide a full year of steady, compassionate care. But each volume is also designed to stand on its own, meeting participants wherever they are in their journey.

How the Series Works

- Structured Rhythm
Each volume offers weekly reflections, journaling prompts, and gentle practices. The 13-week structure gives enough time to settle into each theme without rushing. - Layered Themes
The series moves in a natural progression — beginning with naming grief and the early steps of survival, then exploring the ripple effects of loss, then guiding participants through meaning-making, and finally encouraging integration of grief and life over the long term. - Flexibility
While the books work beautifully in sequence, each volume is also self-contained. A participant can begin at any point — whether they are in the first months of grief or years down the road. - Companion to Groups or Solo
The workbooks are written to be used within a Live & Grieve™ support group, but they are equally valuable for self-reflection, journaling, or one-on-one companionship.
The Four Volumes

Volume 1 — In the Quiet (Weeks 1–13)
The first steps through loss are often the most disorienting. This volume creates a safe beginning. It guides participants to name their grief, acknowledge its weight, and begin establishing gentle rhythms of care.
- Themes: acceptance of loss, first waves of grief, grounding practices
- Stands alone as: an entry point for anyone newly bereaved or feeling “stuck” in early grief
Volume 2 — In the Shadows (Weeks 14–26)
Grief rarely stays in one lane. It ripples outward into identity, community, finances, routines, and relationships. This volume explores these “secondary losses” — the hidden griefs that emerge alongside the central loss.
- Themes: secondary losses, identity shifts, support networks, resilience
- Stands alone as: a practical companion for anyone dealing with the ongoing changes grief brings, even years later
Volume 3 — In the Turning (Weeks 27–39)
As time passes, grief changes shape. This volume helps participants wrestle with meaning, memory, and identity. It doesn’t rush toward answers but encourages gentle turning — from survival toward purpose.
- Themes: meaning-making, memory rituals, carrying love forward
- Stands alone as: a reflection guide for those further along in grief, asking deeper questions about who they are becoming
Volume 4 — In the Light (Weeks 40–52)
The final volume is not about “finishing grief.” It is about integration — carrying grief alongside new life, love, and hope. It emphasizes long-term steadiness and the courage to live fully without denying loss.
- Themes: long-term integration, legacy, renewal, community
- Stands alone as: a gentle companion for anyone seeking to reconcile grief with continued living
How to Use the Workbooks
- Individually — As a private journal, moving week by week at your own pace.
- In Groups — As the foundation of a Live & Grieve™ support group, led by trained facilitators.
- As Needed — Picking up any single volume that speaks to your current season.

Why Four Volumes?
Grief is too large to be “covered” in one book. Breaking the journey into four 13-week companions honors both the weight of grief and the pace of living. It allows participants to rest in one stage before moving to the next, while also offering on-ramps for those who need support at different points.
